A big screen will show England’s first knockout match in Euro 2024 on Sunday afternoon in Melton Mowbray.

It will be erected in Play Close Park for the game with food stalls and bars being set up to fuel Three Lions supporters.

England finished top of their group and will play their last 16 match in Gelsenkirchen – kick-off at 5pm – with their opponents yet to be decided.

Melton Mowbray Town Estate has announced that, after England's success in qualifying for the knockout stages, it will host free live screenings of England’s remaining games.

Dean Rees, CEO of the town estate, said: “We are delighted to open Play Close Park to England fans of all ages to watch all the England matches in the open air.

"We are bringing a 16 square-metre LED screen into the park to provide the largest screen in town, and food and bars will be available on-site for guests to enjoy.”

England’s form has been patchy thus far but they topped Group C with a 1-0 win over Serbia, a 1-1 draw with Denmark and last night’s (Tuesday’s) goal-less stalemate with Slovenia.

The draw has opened up for Gareth Southgate’s men with favourites France, Germany, Spain and Portugal on the other side of the draw.

Drizzle is expected earlier in the day on Sunday in Melton but it should be dry and warm during the match.

“I am thrilled that we can open up the park for this, allowing everyone to watch the England matches in the open air with fellow fans and families,” Dean added.
